         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 8, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Local & Consent Calendars met in a formal meeting  
         and was called to order by the Vice-Chair, Representative Bill  
         Carter at 9:39 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Carter; Cook; Gutierrez; King;  
                   Rabuck; Siebert (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Davis; Jones, Jesse; Puente;  
                   Swinford (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Representative Gutierrez offered a proposed floor amendment to  
         HB 616. 
         (Representative Davis now present.)   
         Representative Gutierrez moved that the following amendment be  
         approved for offering during floor consideration. 
         The motion prevailed without objection 
          
         Representative Cook offered a proposed floor amendment to HB  
         844. 
         Representative Cook moved that the following amendment be  
         approved for offering during floor consideration. 
         The motion prevailed without objection. 
          
         Representative Gutierrez offered a proposed floor amendment to  
         HB 3377. 
         Representative Gutierrez moved that the following amendment be  
         approved for offering during floor consideration. 
         The motion prevailed without objection.

         Representative King moved that the following amendment be
