House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues 75th Legislature July 23, 1998 1:00 PM Capitol Extension, E1.026 Pursuant to a notice posted on July 06, 1998, the House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues met in a public hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Toby Goodman at 1:30 PM. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Goodman; Staples; McReynolds; Reyna, Arthur; Smith; Williams (6). Absent: Representatives Jones, Jesse; McClendon, Naishtat (3). A quorum was present. The committee convened to hear invited testimony on interim charges 4 and 5: To assess the potential for increasing the use of administrative decision making in lieu of court orders, to resolve issues that arise after a court has entered an order requiring child support. Review the experience of other states with administrative procedures. Determine whether their increased use might improve the efficiency of the system and the timeliness of modification orders and payments. And to monitor the implementation of the TXCSES automated system to aid child support enforcement. Testimony was taken. The following persons from the Office of the Attorney General testified before the committee.
