         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 12, 1997, the House 
         Committee on State, Federal & International Relations met in a 
         public hearing and was called to order by the Chair, 
         Representative Bob Hunter at 8:15 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Hunter; Chavez; Palmer; Pitts; 
                   Seaman; West, George "Buddy" (6).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Moreno; Isett; Wise (3).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         (Representative Wise now present.)  
         
         The Committee heard a briefing from the Texas Travel Industry 
         Association and the Texas  Department of 
         Commerce.(Representative Isett now present.)  
         
         Testimony was taken.  
         
         At 9:45 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned until 8:00 am Tuesday, March 25,
