         Pursuant to the suspension of the five day posting rule April  
         29, 1997 on the House Floor and a notice posted on April 29,  
         1997, the House Committee on Financial Institutions met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Kenny Marchant at 8:35 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Marchant; Gutierrez; Elkins;  
                   Patterson, L.P. "Pete"; Smith (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Ehrhardt; Giddings; Grusendorf;  
                   Solomons (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representatives Ehrhardt, Giddings, and Solomons now  
         present.)

         The chair laid out HB 3477.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Moffat to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Marchant offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         The committee substitute was withdrawn. 
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 9:59 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
