         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 28, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was 
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Allen Hightower 
         at 11:50 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:

                   Marchant; Serna (5).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Allen; Edwards; Farrar; Hupp (4).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         The chair named the following members to the Subcommittee on

         Chair, Representatives Gray and Hupp.

         measure.

         Representative Alexander offered an amendment to the measure.  
         
         The amendment was adopted without objection.

         measure.  
         
         Representative Alexander moved that HB 1422, as amended, be 
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation 
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the
