            Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on March 
            12, 1997, the House Committee on Calendars met in a formal 
            meeting and was called to order by the Chair, 
            Representative Mark Stiles at 2:00 pm.
            
            The roll was answered as follows:

            following bills on the General State Calendar for Monday, 
            March 17:  H.B. 218, H.B. 311, H.B. 515, H.B. 680, H.B. 
            1424 and H.B. 506.  The motion was seconded by Rep. 
            Danburg, and passed by the following record vote:

                      Place; Sadler; Turner, Sylvester (7).
            
            Nays:     None (0).
            
            Present not Voting: Representative Stiles (1).

            The Chair recognized Rep. Place, who moved to place the 
            following bills on the General State Calendar for Tuesday, 
            March 18:  H.B. 8, H.B. 9, H.B. 336, H.B. 634, H.B. 1154 
            and H.B. 1190.
            The motion was seconded by Rep. Hilbert, and passed by the 
            following record vote:

            March 18.  The motion was seconded by Rep. Dutton, and

            proposed rule for consideration of H.B. 1.  The motion was 
            seconded by Rep. Sylvester Turner and passed by the

            At 2:10 pm, on the motion of Representative Danburg and 
            without objection, the meeting was recessed subject to the
