         Pursuant to a notice posted on July 17, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Funding Texas  
         Courts met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
         Acting Chair, Representative Eiland  at 10:10 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Cuellar; Eiland; Heflin; Pitts;  
                   Tillery (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Hinojosa; Moreno;Turner, Sylvester  
                   (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken from the Chief Justices of the Courts of  
         Appeals on appropriations issues. 
          
         Testimony was taken from Peter Vogel, Judge Lamar McCorkle,  
         and Bob Wessels on the JCIT. 
          
         Testimony on Specific Benefits for Funding Technology was  
         postponed until next meeting. 
          
         At 12:40 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
