Pursuant to a notice posted on October 21, 1997, the House
Committee on Appropriations met in a public hearing and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Robert Junell at
1:05 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:

A quorum was present.
The Committees met to hear testimony on the following interim
charge to the House Committee on Public Health:
Monitor the implementation of H.B. 3 (Texas Healthy Kids
Corporation), and study the provisions of the federal
Balanced Budget Act that relate to children's health.
