         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 27, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Pete  
         Patterson at 8:14 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Patterson, L.P. "Pete"; Flores;  
                   Hupp; Roman; Turner, Bob (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Swinford; Cook; Oakley; Rabuck (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 2367 and HJR 89 
          
         The chair laid out HB 2367 and HJR 89.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Miguel Wise to explain the  
         measures.   
          
         (Representatives Cook, Rabuck, and Swinford now present.)   
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Miguel Wise to close on  
         the measures.   
          
         The chair referred the bill and joint resolution to the  
         Subcommittee on HB 2367 and HJR 89. 
          
         The chair named the following members to the Subcommittee on  
         HB 2367 and HJR 89:  Representative Cook, Chair,  
         Representatives Flores and Turner, Bob.  
          
         The chair recognized Dr. A.K. (Konrad) Eugster, Executive  
         Director, Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, to  
         give scientific testimony on equine infectious anemia.
