1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 463

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to honor

        1-3     the memory of Rufina Eva Ducre for her notable contributions to

        1-4     the lives of the less fortunate residents of El Paso; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Recognized for her civic leadership, Rufina Ducre

        1-6     was inducted posthumously into the El Paso Commission for Women

        1-7     Hall of Fame at the commission's banquet on March 13, 1997; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The esteemed individual was nominated for the honor

        1-9     by Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of El Paso for her work in distributing

       1-10     food and other essentials to low-income people in her Lower Valley

       1-11     neighborhood; and

       1-12           WHEREAS, A compassionate friend and mentor, Rufina Ducre

       1-13     was well known for her humanitarian work with the needy; she

       1-14     exemplified the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor and reached

       1-15     out to others in an effort to provide a better quality of life

       1-16     for the residents of her community; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, Celebrating its 11th year, the El Paso Commission

       1-18     for Women is a nonprofit organization that seeks to recognize

       1-19     outstanding El Paso women for induction into the Hall of Fame

       1-20     and to commemorate the contributions they have made to the

       1-21     El Paso community; and

       1-22           WHEREAS, Since 1985, members of the organization have

       1-23     worked diligently to guarantee all El Paso women equal rights

        2-1     and responsibilities; the association's Hall of Fame developed

        2-2     from the members' desire that women receive equal recognition for

        2-3     their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

        2-4           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-5     75th Legislature, hereby commend Rufina Eva Ducre for her

        2-6     notable work in caring for the residents of the Lower Valley

        2-7     community; her memory will continue to live on as she takes her

        2-8     rightful place in the El Paso Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it

        2-9     further

       2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

       2-11     family as an expression of the gratitude of the Texas Senate.
