By: Ellis S.R. No. 153 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is pleased to recognize the 1-3 Honorable Chris V. Semos for his outstanding contributions on 1-4 behalf of the citizens of Dallas County; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Semos brings vast experience into his new role 1-6 as a member of Dean International, an international public policy 1-7 consulting firm; and 1-8 WHEREAS, While serving in the Texas House of Representatives 1-9 from 1967 through 1983, Chris Semos was the chair of the Claims 1-10 Committee, the Dallas Legislative Delegation, and the Business 1-11 and Industry Committee; and 1-12 WHEREAS, After long service as a state legislator, 1-13 Representative Semos decided to continue to devote himself to 1-14 public service on the local level; he was elected a Dallas County 1-15 Commissioner and represented the areas of Oak Cliff, Irving, 1-16 Grand Prairie, Cockrell Hill, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto, 1-17 Lancaster, Wilmer, and Glenn Heights for three four-year terms; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A man with a comprehensive background in leadership, 1-19 Chris Semos has participated in all aspects of community life; he 1-20 chaired the boards of the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas Family 1-21 Hospital, Dallas County DWI Task Force, Texas Sesquicentennial 1-22 Commission, and the National Conference of Christians and Jews 1-23 of Dallas; he is presently serving on the board of the United Way 2-1 of Metropolitan Dallas; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The years of superlative service that Mr. Semos 2-3 has spent in public life have won him many honors that include the 2-4 William J. Pitstick Award from the North Central Texas Council 2-5 of Governments, the Award of Excellence from the Dallas Assembly, 2-6 the Public Service Award from the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, 2-7 and the Accolade of Achievement from the Dallas Bar Association; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Chris Semos has served as a member of the Regional 2-9 Transportation Committee of the North Central Texas Council of 2-10 Governments, the Executive Committee of the Dallas Council on 2-11 World Affairs, and as Chairman of the Conference of Urban Counties; 2-12 all these experiences have prepared him thoroughly to make a 2-13 significant addition to his new firm; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-15 74th Legislature, hereby express its appreciation to the 2-16 Honorable Chris Semos for his many years of public service and 2-17 extend best wishes to him in his new position in the private 2-18 sector; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-20 as an expression of great esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 President of the Senate 2-23 I hereby certify that the above 2-24 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-25 on February 6, 1995. 3-1 ______________________________________ 3-2 Secretary of the Senate 3-3 ______________________________________ 3-4 Member, Texas Senate
