H.R. No. 1259
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, It is the custom of the Texas House of
    1-2  Representatives to pay tribute to those members of this chamber who
    1-3  have made exceptional contributions to the legislative process and
    1-4  democratic system of government in the Lone Star State; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, One such individual worthy of our highest praise at
    1-6  this time is our esteemed colleague Delwin L. Jones, who during the
    1-7  course of the last two legislative sessions has  once again taken
    1-8  the helm as chairman of the House Redistricting Committee; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The inspired and steady leadership of this
   1-10  remarkable gentleman has led to an agreement among all legislators
   1-11  affected by the state legislative redistricting lawsuit, saving
   1-12  Texas citizens not only the expense of additional legal fees but of
   1-13  a probable special session; during the many arduous months and
   1-14  years that he has spent working toward this lofty goal,
   1-15  Representative Jones has shown himself to be a public official of
   1-16  the very highest caliber, impressing colleagues and constituents
   1-17  alike with his unwavering dedication, persistence, and hard work;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, This extraordinary legislator has at every step
   1-20  sought to understand the concerns of all members; during the
   1-21  sleepless nights and delicate negotiations of the redistricting
   1-22  process, Chairman Jones perfected the art of shuttle diplomacy,
   1-23  moving effortlessly among the various parties involved, but always
   1-24  ensuring that the interests of the people of Texas were considered
    2-1  first and foremost; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, An agreement on any redistricting plan is a
    2-3  noteworthy feat, and, as we come to the close of this legislative
    2-4  session, it is indeed appropriate that Representative Jones be
    2-5  given special thanks and recognition for his valiant efforts on
    2-6  this issue; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the members of the House of Representatives of
    2-8  the 74th Legislature join together in saluting the Honorable Delwin
    2-9  L. Jones for the exceptional work he has performed in behalf of the
   2-10  citizens of Texas; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for Representative Jones as an expression of highest
   2-13  regard by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
