H.R. No. 37
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, January 15, 1995, marks the 84th birthday of an
    1-2  esteemed former member of this chamber, the Honorable Henry "Bud"
    1-3  Lehman; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, This outstanding public servant was first elected to
    1-5  the Texas House of Representatives in 1936 and, over the course of
    1-6  the next two decades, distinguished himself through his support of
    1-7  such worthy measures as the "pay as you go" program, the
    1-8  farm-to-market roads program, and the dedication of the Little
    1-9  River Bridge; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The youngest dean in the history of the house at the
   1-11  time of his retirement, Mr. Lehman also held the distinction of
   1-12  having then served the longest consecutive interval in that
   1-13  chamber; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, His extensive accomplishments in behalf of the
   1-15  citizens of Lee County have earned him the lasting respect and
   1-16  admiration of area residents, who chose to honor him in 1993 by
   1-17  requesting the 73rd Legislature to designate U.S. Highway 290 in
   1-18  Lee County as the Henry G. "Bud" Lehman Highway; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Mr. Lehman's warmth, wisdom, and generosity have
   1-20  touched the lives of a great many people throughout his lifetime,
   1-21  and it is fitting that he be honored on this momentous occasion;
   1-22  now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby extend sincere congratulations to a respected
    2-1  friend, the Honorable Henry "Bud" Lehman, on the occasion of his
    2-2  84th birthday; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-4  prepared for Mr. Lehman as an expression of high regard by the
    2-5  Texas House of Representatives.
